Tumisang Khalipha, professionally known as KhALiPhA ThE GrEaT (b. 1994, Mahikeng, South Africa), is a Johannesburg based contemporary visual artist working across painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and videography. His multidisciplinary practice explores the complex relationship between our inner worlds and the social environments we inhabit, creating spaces for contemplation, healing, and transformation.
Guided by themes of creation, destruction, restoration, and human connection, Khalipha investigates the cycles that shape both individual and collective existence. His work is rooted in the belief that art has the power to reveal what lies beneath the surface inviting viewers to confront memory, identity, vulnerability, and the enduring search for meaning.
Through layered materials, symbolic imagery, and intuitive processes, Khalipha constructs visual narratives that encourage reflection and a return to self. His practice draws from lived experience, spirituality, and the rhythms of everyday life, balancing personal introspection with broader social commentary. Each work becomes an invitation to pause, reconnect, and consider the invisible threads that bind humanity together.
Khalipha's work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions across South Africa, contributing to contemporary conversations surrounding identity, healing, belonging, and the shared human experience. As his practice continues to evolve across disciplines, he remains committed to creating work that is both intellectually engaging and emotionally resonant, offering audiences moments of recognition, connection, and possibility.
